EMPOWERING EDUCATION

To help unlock educational opportunities for our children, empowering them to pursue their purpose and build brighter futures.

God gave parents the vision that their children and this country needed a Christ-centred education as an alternative to the State School system. And in faith, they responded with the formation of the Association for Christian Parent-Controlled Schools.

OJ HOFMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Christian Schools Tasmania offers scholarships through the OJ Hofman Scholarship Fund, named in honour of Mr Oepke Jelte Hofman, Calvin Christian School’s founding Principal. In 1954, Mr Hofman, along with others, helped establish a school focused on Christ-centred education. He served as Principal from 1960 to 1979, playing a key role in the creation of numerous other Christian schools across Australia, including Emmanuel Christian School on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.

Believing in the importance of accessibility in education, Mr Hofman initiated the scholarship fund in 2001. Funded by generous donors, the OJ Hofman Scholarship Fund aims to make high-quality Christian Education affordable for all. Two scholarships are available: the Foundation Scholarship and the Extend Scholarship.

This fund continues Mr Hofman’s legacy of promoting accessibility and excellence in education.
