(Click Here to listen to ‘From the Principal’) It is always my prayer that I find you well, and in this season, you have had a restful and renewing time over the holidays - as well as reconnecting with loved ones and finding moments of peace.Yesterday we commenced the 2025 academic year, and it was a blessing to see our community energised for another year of purpose, potential, and promise. I am thrilled to be on this journey with you! As is becoming our tradition, our theme for the year is ‘Arise and Shine’, and we draw our inspiration from Isaiah 60:1, ‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.’
What an encouraging challenge for us as a community; for us to step into our purpose, shine brightly in our community, and to glorify God through our actions and achievements. We endeavour to do this, not for ourselves, but for others and our greater community. This is the call that Matthew makes, ‘Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven’ (5:16).
As a school, we remain on a growth trajectory, both quantitatively and qualitatively in the learning experiences that we render to our students. Of course, this journey will and has had challenges, but these are the greatest opportunities for growth. It is from this understanding that our priorities for 2025 focus on growth, greater achievement, and serving our community. This is both internal and external, in ways that enable each student to shine and impact others positively. Every step that every member of our community makes, particularly our students, no matter how small, attests to their resilience, strength, and unwavering belief that they have something strong and greater inside that we need to fan into flame. This year we prioritise: The affirmation of our identity as a Christian School as we create more opportunities for our students and staff to live and exercise their faith. The consolidation of curriculum improvement initiatives and further alignment of our pedagogical approaches to the vision of being a transformational learning community. Continued capacity development for our team through ongoing learning and improvement. Further refinement of our teaching in meeting the needs of our diverse students. Strengthening our co-curricular and extra-curricular offerings through creative and holistic educational opportunities. The continued improvement of our communication protocols. The maintenance of high standards of behaviours that affirm our values, ethos, and identity as a Christian School, and guarantee a safe and joyful environment for all.
The outworking of these priorities belongs to all of us and is made possible through our collective efforts. Upholding our values is our collective responsibility, and is the key that unlocks our students’ potential and our school’s purpose. Our unity and constructive collaboration are the powerful tools that make us stronger as a community. Our systems are not perfect but are faithfully evolving for the better, and it is incumbent on each one of us to contribute towards the development of stronger systems to create an environment in which we will thrive, realising God’s purpose for us and our students. We continue to stand firm on the following principles: We are a community of believers and the shining light in our community. Our students are God’s masterpieces; inherently good and we are here to nurture them. Education is a community responsibility, and it is meant for the whole being. We serve each other with love, respect, and integrity, always striving to reflect our faith in all we do.
New Staff Members May I extend a special welcome to the following staff members: Please note this important date: May I encourage our community to step into this year with hearts full of faith, hope and the anticipation for the great things that are set for us. May God bless our school, state and country as we begin this exciting chapter together. Lifeas Kapofu — Principal
